Trump’s Huawei Ban ‘Wins’ One Trade Battle

Indeed, Huawei’s executive director and chairman of its investment review board, David Wang, told Bloomberg that, “Our U.S. business is not that big. We have global operations. We still will have stable operations.” Wang is right… to a point. Huawei derives most of its sales from international markets, according to a 2018 financial report released earlier this year, but it depends heavily on technology from U.S. chip manufacturers for its equipment. Without those supplies, Huawei could find itself in a very difficult spot, indeed. Huawei’s end of year financials showed its consumer devices business…

Elon Musk, SEC Agree To Guidelines On Twitter Use

Tesla,  Elon Musk and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission reached an agreement Friday that will give the CEO freedom to use Twitter —within certain limitations — without fear of being held in contempt for violating an earlier court order. Musk can tweet as he wishes except when it’s about certain events or financial milestones. In those cases, Musk must seek pre-approval from a securities lawyer, according to the agreement filed with Manhattan federal court. U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan, the presiding judge on this matter, must still approve the deal. Nathan had given…

Tesla Plans To Launch A Robotaxi Network In 2020

Tesla  expects to launch the first robotaxis as part of broader vision for an autonomous ride-sharing network in 2020, CEO Elon Musk  said during the company’s Autonomy Day. “I feel very confident predicting that there will be autonomous robotaxis from Tesla next year — not in all jurisdictions because we won’t have regulatory approval everywhere” Musk said without detailing what regulations he was referring to. He added that he is confident the company will have regulatory approval somewhere next year. Tesla will enable owners to add their properly equipped vehicles to its own…

Google To Shut Down Google+ Tomorrow, 2 April

Google is finally closing the social network it set up in an ill-fated attempt to take on Facebook, the company has confirmed. Google+ will be shut down for good tomorrow, with all profiles and pages to be deleted on that day. The announcement has caused confusion among some google users; the company made it easy for people to create a Google+ page by accident, leaving many unaware they had joined the social network in the first place. Pristine Voice tries to answer some key questions surrounding the closure. What is…

‘China Poised To Become A Leading 5G Market’

China is poised to become one of 5G’s leading markets, enabled in large part by the volume and density of the 4G network that the country has already built out. The country had almost 2 million cell sites in early 2018; this compares with about 200,000 in the United States. That is according to Deloitte’s 18th edition of Technology, Media and Telecommunications Predictions, which also stated that in 2019 China is likely to have over 330 million full-fibre connections, representing about 70% of the world’s total, as well as almost 5…

Facebook Sues Four Chinese Companies Over Trademark Infringement

Facebook is taking legal action against a cluster of Chinese websites that sell fake accounts, likes and followers both on Facebook itself and on Instagram. The company announced the legal action in a short blog post late Friday afternoon (a move unusual enough to pique our curiosity a little). Of course, the fact that Facebook isn’t allowed in China might be a complexifier, in Bezos-speak. The lawsuit, filed with the Northern District of California, alleges that starting in 2017 four Chinese companies and three individuals based in China “operated a…
